Community Cub Pack 4802 is an interfaith Pack sponsored by the Saint George Catholic Church. It offers a Cub Scout program for boys in Grades 1-5. Usually there are three den meetings (by grade level) and one Pack meeting a month.
Grade 1 boys are Tiger Cubs and must have an adult partner with them at all den and pack meetings − usually a parent, but at times the partner has been a grandparent. The Den meetings are a shared leadership, meaning each family takes turns hosting the meetings for a month at a time.
Grade 2 boys are Wolves, Grade 3 boys are Bears, and Grade 4 & 5 boys are Webelos. All meet with a respective Den Leader and Assistant Den Leader on a day and time of the week that is most convenient for the Den families. Then, all come together once a month for the Pack meeting where boys are recognized for the achievements they have accomplished during the month. Pack meetings are a family affair − parents are an important part of the awards ceremony.
Pack meeting is the 4th Thursday of the month at 7:00pm ... except for November, December, and May, when it is the 3rd Thursday, at Kuzy Hall at 6:30pm
Each level of boys works with a specific Handbook. Many of the Achievements are worked on during the Den meetings; however, not everything can be accomplished during the Den meetings so the boys need support form home.
Pack 4802 is a "uniformed" unit; therefore leaders are expected to be in scout uniforms. The boy's uniform is scout shirt, neckerchief, slide, socks and belt. Since the boys grow so quickly, we do not require the scout pants during this age frame.
Pack 4802 follows BSA Policy of Two Deep Leadership. If there is a time when there is not an assistant Den leader, parents are asked to rotate turns to assist at Den meetings.
Parents are encouraged to become a part of the leadership of the Pack. To do so, one needs to complete a BSA registration form and a background check is completed. Registered leaders are expected to complete BSA Basic Training. Monthly Scout Round Tables are a means of continuing training for the month's theme. Program Guides are available.
The Pack also holds a monthly committee meeting a week prior to the Pack Meeting to insure a quality program for the boys.
The registration fee for either scout or adult is $15 per year. A prorated fee is applied for the boys/adults who join during the year.
